GSA recently launched a "Want List" capability in GSAXcessTM. "I know that many members of USA-FEPP have had interest in our creation of this application for quite some time," said David Robbins, acting director of the Property Management Division at GSA.
This "Want List" is fairly basic and keys on the submitted item name of assets desired and reported to GSA. The web page to submit a "want" can be accessed after logging on through http://gsaxcess.gov/fedsweb/fedsweb from the GSAXcessTM menu page. Each night, an automated search of documented "wants" will be processed against new receipts. Searches will not be done on item records older than one day. Any matches will generate an e-mail notice to the customer listing up to 50 assets that match the "Want". Search results are consolidated. Results for different items on the same Want List will appear in a single e-mail notice. At this time, a customer will be limited to 10 "Wants", each of which can specify up to 6 states, or be left blank for a worldwide search. If a customer needs to specify more than 6 states, he/she will need to submit an additional "want" for that item. Customers can also specify the minimum acceptable condition they will accept. More detailed instructions are provided at the attachment.
Robbins said, "I hope that this new application will be beneficial to you and your membership and will be an important tool in increasing the reuse of Federal excess personal property. We plan to monitor usage of the "Want List" in order to refine it, improve searches, and improve its use to our Federal transfer customers."
This screen will be displayed after clicking the 'Want List Items' link on the GSAXcessTM Menu/Main Menu. You may submit your 'Wants', by item name and the system will search each day's receipts to determine matches. Any day there is a match, the system will generate an email to you notifying you of the item availability. Your 'Want' will stay active for up to 180 days.
Note:
A maximum of 10 items are allowed on the Want List.
If there is a match for your Want List item, the system email will include a maximum of only the first 50 items found for each match.
If your name or email address at the top of the screen need correcting, go to "Update User Contact Information?" on the GSAXcessTM Homepage. If you are unauthorized to make changes to this information contact your National Utilization Officer.
Because of the abundance of furniture in GSAXcessTM you may not submit such requests on the Want List; i.e., FSCs 7105, 7110, 7125, and 7195 will be rejected.
FSC:
An optional field, you may enter a numeric, 4-position valid FSC. Entering this field means you want the system to notify you when there is a match of Item Name and FSC.
Item Name:
The only required Want List input field, choose your Item Name wording carefully. The system will search for a match for every word you enter and in the order you enter. For example, if you enter 'Truck', you will receive notification for property with the word 'Truck' appearing anywhere in the Item Name. If you enter 'Ford Truck' you will receive notification only for 'Ford Truck' appearing in that order in the Item Name. The property may have been entered as 'Truck F-150' (which is a Ford) but the system will not see this as a match. It is best to keep the Item Name general.
Condition This list enables you to choose a minimum condition you will accept. For example, leaving the condition 'Blank' means you are interested in the item regardless of its condition. Selecting a condition of 'Repairable' means you are only interested if the property is in 'Repairable' or better condition; i.e., you will be notified of property in 'Repairable', 'Useable', or 'New/Used' condition.
States:
Leave this field blank to be notified of all selected property worldwide. Use the 'State' feature to refine your request to specific locations. For example, entering VA, MD, and DE means you are only interested in being notified if the selected property is located within one of those 3 states. You may select a maximum of 6 states.
Expiration Date:
Customers may enter an expiration date from 1 to 180 days. If the customer leaves this field blank, FEDS will assign 180 days to the Expiration Date.
GSAXcessTM will send an expiration advisory e-mail to the customer on the Expiration Date. Searches will no longer be done after the Expiration Date expires, unless the customer extends the Expiration Date.
Search criteria will remain on the customer's Want List for 180 days prior to being purged. The customer may change the search criteria or extend the expiration date at any time prior to the purge.
